10 million Facebook users are under threat
10 million Facebook users' login information may have been stolen, Meta said. The company said this information in a report on Friday, October 7.
According to reports, Facebook
account information may have been stolen due to security issues with some apps
downloaded from Apple and Google's app stores. They identified more than 400
malware apps on Android and iOS this year. Apps steal login information of
internet users. Apple and Google have been notified to remove these malicious
apps.
Facebook says photo editors,
mobile games or health tracker apps mainly steal data.
Apple says 45 of the 400
problematic apps have been removed from the App Store.
On the other hand, a
spokesperson for Alphabet said that Google has removed all harmful apps from
the store.
Cybercriminals know how
popular such apps are, said David Agranovich, director of Global Threat
Disruption at Mater. They therefore use such themes to steal account
information of Facebook users by cheating.
Meta said it will advise users
about this and help identify problematic apps that request data from Facebook
or other apps.
