3200-megapixel digital camera
A digital camera of about 3200
megapixels is being developed by the scientists of the SLAC National
Accelerator Laboratory in the United States. Recently, they released the photos
and information of the camera made in the California laboratory. They claim that
this is the biggest digital camera in the world.
Engineers at the SLAC National
Accelerator Laboratory in California have been developing this camera for the
past seven years. They named it the Legacy Survey of Space and Time or LSST
camera. The camera is about the size of a small sedan. In terms of mass, it is
like three tons. And it needs about five feet of space to install it. The large
lens of this camera has already made it to the Guinness World Record.
The 3,200-megapixel camera is
so powerful that it can photograph a golf ball from 15 miles away. LSST was
developed for space research.
