US women's world record for running on prosthetic legs


Amy Palmiero Winters, an American woman, have set a Guinness World Record for running 100 km on an artificial leg. Amy lost one of her legs in an accident in 1994.


According to the Guinness Book of World Records, Amy took 21 hours, 43 minutes and 29 seconds to run 100 kilometers on a treadmill with an artificial leg. In 1994, Amy's motorcycle collided with a car, and doctors were forced to amputate one of her legs just above the knee. Amy won the Boston Marathon a few days before the accident.


As doctors continued to try to save Amy's life, she wondered how she could fulfill one of her hobbies. Amy, a mother of one, said she likes to run. Running helps him deal with life's problems.


In a statement, the Guinness Book of World Records said that after 25 surgeries, therapies and rehabilitation, Amy don't only run the marathon, but also set a world record because of her mental strength.
