Xiaomi users will no longer be able to use YouTube for free
If you are using Xiaomi phone, then this news is for you. Xiaomi uncovered that the organization is eliminating an element that permits clients to play YouTube recordings free of charge behind the scenes. The announcement was made via a Xiaomi fan home Telegram channel post. Let's find out the reasons behind this feature shutdown.
This change removes to continue video sound after screen off feature in the Video Toolbox and to continue video sound after screen off feature in the Game Toolbox. This will
happen through over-the-air i.e. OTA software updates. So if this feature is
not working on your device, then it is not a bug but an intentional change in
the company.
The company said that this
decision has been taken in accordance with Google's rules. One of the many
benefits that come with a YouTube Premium subscription is the ability to play
YouTube videos in the background. So there are third-party devices and software
features that allow users to use these features without paying. So Google is
now shutting down many tools and features.
Xiaomi removed these features,
citing regulatory compliance as the reason behind the decision. So it is said
that the company has taken this decision because of Google. Because doing so
may increase Google's paid subscriptions. Interestingly, YouTube has previously
made it difficult to skip ads and ad blockers have slowed down video playback
for users.
All this is forcing YouTube
and Google users to pay for premium subscriptions. Oppo took a similar decision
in January. This decision by Xiaomi will affect all smartphones running on MIUI
12, MIUI 13, MIUI 14 and newly launched HyperOS. It also includes new flagships
such as Xiaomi 14, Xiaomi 13, Xiaomi 13 Pro and Xiaomi 12T.
Xiaomi is a Chinese designer
and manufacturer of consumer electronics and related software, home appliances,
automobiles, and household hardware. It is the second-biggest cell phone
producer on the planet.
