The secret of Zamzam well water
Zamzam well. A famous well located inside the Masjid al-Haram in Mecca. The distance between the Holy Kaaba and this wall is only 38 yards. A powerful pumping machine is installed near this well. The water is lifted by the machine and thrown in a wide area. From there, millions of people drink water to their satisfaction and carry it in containers. Zamzam also has a water supply through pipelines to various places in Harem Sharif.
About 4,000
years ago, Ibrahim (a.s.) banished his beloved wife Hajar and infant son Ismail
to the sandy wilderness at the foot of the Faran mountain in Mecca by God's
command. Helpless wife repeatedly asked from behind, 'Where are you going to
leave us alone in this uninhabited wilderness? Ibrahim (A.S.) is silent. There
is no answer.
Finally, the wife said, 'Have you received any instructions from Allah? ' She shook her head and said, 'OK'. Hazrat Hajera (a.s.) was happy to hear about Allah's instructions and said, then He will not let us perish. Bibi Hajera (a.s.) started her lonely life in the gray, rough, dusty kingdom with immense faith and trust in Almighty Allah. One day he was desperately thirsty to find water. He left the baby Ismail in the open and started running to the hills of 'Safa-Marwa'. At one point in the run, he heard someone making a noise. Hajar (a.s.) said, 'If you can help, then come forward. ' Then Gabriel (a.s.) struck with his heel and caused the water to flow.
Zamzam water is very blessed and holy for Muslims. The hadith mentions the endless benefits and blessings of this water.
Rasulullah (PBUH) said, "The most excellent and beneficial water on the surface of the earth is the water of Zamzam." This water is food for the hungry and healing for the sick. ' (Ibn Majah) During the farewell Hajj journey, the Prophet (PBUH) drank a lot of Zamzam water, applied it to his eyes and poured it on his head. In the sixth Hijri, while staying at a place called Hudaybiyyah, the Prophet (PBUH) brought Zamzam water from Makkah to drink and brought it to Madinah with him.
Ayesha (RA)
said, whenever the beloved Prophet (PBUH) went somewhere, he used to take
Zamzam water with him and sprinkle this water on the patients. On the authority
of Ibn Abbas (RA), Rasulullah (SAW) said, "The water of Zamzam will
achieve whatever it is intended for." The Companions used to drink the
water of Zamzam with great reverence and bring it home with them. This rule is
still in effect.
The purity and
properties of Zamzam well water are better than any other water in the world.
The greatness of the Zamzam well is closely related to the virtues of the
Kaaba. The history of the Kaaba and the Zamzam well are closely related to each
other. Zamzam is the memorial well of Prophet Ishmael (AS), the son of Prophet
Ibrahim (AS). The salient features of Zamzam well are:
1. It is normal
for the water of any good in the world to lose its color and taste due to
long-term storage. But even after the passage of thousands of years, the color
and taste of Zamzam water have not changed.
2. The water in
Zamzam well is about 10.6 feet below the ground. From there, with the help of a
powerful motor, water is extracted at a rate of 8 thousand liters per second
for about 24 hours. And then the water level drops to 44 feet below. But just
11 minutes after the water lifting was stopped, the water level came back to 13
feet. Surely this is surprising.
3. Zamzam wells
are not associated with any river or reservoir. But millions of people are
always getting water from this well. Never dries up.
4. Zamzam water
not only quenches thirst. Rather, it also suppresses hunger and heals.
5. It is
mustahab to drink Zamzam water while standing facing the Qiblah, and it is
Makruh to perform ablution with this water.
Much research
has been done and is being done on Zamzam water. Geological Survey in Saudi
Arabia has a research center called 'Zamzam Studies and Research Centre'.
Laboratory
tests have shown that Zamzam water contains more calcium and magnesium salts
than ordinary water, which play a major role in relieving fatigue. The
ingredients in Zamzam water are human food, nutrition and disease cure.
Research on Zamzam water was carried out by the Department of Food and
Nutrition, University of Nottingham, British Ministry of Health. The study
proved that Zamzam water is an excellent tonic for health.
An Egyptian
doctor researched Zamzam water and reported that it contains magnesium, sodium,
chloride, calcium carbonate, potassium nitrite and hydrogen. In 1977, a team
from Tripoli, Libya, studied Zamzam water, which contained, total dissolved
solids 1620, chloryl 234, calcium carbonate 365, sulfate 190, calcium + V-E,
magnesium + V-E, iron, sulfur V-E, nitrates. V-E.
Recently, a
researcher from Japan "Masaru Emoto" researched Zamzam water and said
that a single drop of Zamzam water has its own mineral quality, which is not
found in any other water in the world.
He also said
that if one drops of Zamzam water is mixed with 1000 drops of normal water,
then that mixture is as pure as Zamzam water. Because pure water like Zamzam
water cannot be found anywhere else in the world. In fact, the water of Zamzam
is a living symbol of God's power. The amount of research on this water will be
very insufficient.
Besides, there
are several virtues of drinking Zamzam water in the light of Quranic Hadith.
Hazrat Abu Zar
(RA) narrates that the Prophet (PBUH) said, "The water of Zamzam is
blessed, the food of the taste-seeker." (Sahih Muslim, Hadith: 2473)
An extended
portion of this hadith is quoted in Musnad Tayalusi, 'And medicine for the
patient. ' Aisha (RA) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) used to carry
Zamzam water with him in pots and muskets. He sprinkled it on the sick and made
them drink it. (Sunan Tirmidhi).
