Closing gun ownership in Canada
The Canadian government is taking steps to stop gun
ownership. Local time Monday, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced
a bill would be introduced in Parliament to pass legislation to that effect.
Under the proposed law, the import and sale of guns will be effectively banned.

In April 2020, 23 people were killed in a gun attack in the

the rise. "People should be able to go to supermarkets, schools and places

The Government of Canada's statistics agency said last week
that firearms-related violent crimes accounted for nearly three percent of all
violent crimes in the country.

Handguns or handheld guns are used in about two-thirds of
all gun violence in urban Canada.
Canadian police claim the United States is the main source
