CONDIMENTS ARE BEST HOME REMEDIES
I love cooking and also eating is my favorite part. I use condiments in
preparing the dish that I wanted to cook, I also use condiments while I am
eating to add more flavor to the food I eat. And I also use this as a home
remedies.
Condiment is an ingredient or a sauce that can be used in preparing food
to cook, or it can be used after the food is cooked. These are used to add the
flavor, aroma to the food and for the food plating presentation in some
restaurant.
Here are some lists of common Condiments that can be used as a Home
remedy.
GARLIC (Allium sativum): from the family of Amaryllidaceous and this flavorful bulb is commonly grown in Central Asia and cultivated all over the world. This is commonly used ingredient in different food dishes because of its flavorful taste. Garlic is the best wellspring of B6 nutrient, a decent wellspring of selenium, manganese and C nutrient. It also the best source of minerals like calcium, iron, copper, potassium and phosphorous. Garlic also contains antioxidants that protect our body against oxidative damage, and it has anti-inflamatory and lipid lowering properties. A thousand years ago, it has been used by humans as a medicine. Garlic was used to fight cough, colds and flu, It also used to cure digestive problem, It relieved toothaches, it helps to boost the immune system of the body, it also helps to reduce the blood pressure in people who have hypertension.
SALT : is a mineral composed and also known as Sodium Chloride(NaCl). Salt is commonly used to add flavor to the food we eat every day.
It is also used as binder, stabilizer and as food preservatives. A human body
requires small amount of salt, estimated 500 mg of sodium daily is recommended.
However, too much use of salt can lead to heart disease, high blood pressure
and stroke. Salt is very beneficial to humans. A thousand years ago, salt is
used to clean out infected wounds, gum infections, sore throat, toothache and
skin diseases like fungal infection, athlete's foot, and eczema because of its
antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties.
CHILE pepper : (Capsicum frutescens) it is belong to the
family of Solanaceae or nightshade family. It is small and fiery pod, are
native to the Philippines and also grow in tropical countries. This pepper is
used in making sauces and other food dishes. Chile pepper is good source of A
and C vitamins also contain magnesium, fiber, foliate, iron, and riboflavin.
The chemical compound of these peppers, which is capsaicin, triggers the brain
to feel the spice and heat when you eat. Chile pepper have antibacterial and
anti-inflammatory properties and can be used as decongestant, also to treat
sore throat, diabetes, fever, and also used as pain reliever for toothache,
heavy menstrual bleeding.
Calamansi : (Citrofottunella microcarpa) or commonly known as
citrus microcarpa or calamondin and belongs to citrus family. Calamansi juice
extract is commonly used in food preparation and in making sauces. This small
fruit is widely grown in the South East Asia. This fruit is very rich in C
vitamin and iron that help to boost the immune system of the human body. It
also contains a vitamin, potassium and calcium. Calamansi is widely known in
south-east Asia as home remedy for body odor, it helps to whiten skin, it helps
to fight cough and colds, inflammation and help to regulate glucose insulin and
cholesterol level of the body, due to its antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and
anti-oxidant properties.
Vinegar : is a sour in taste liquid, a combination of acetic acid and water,
and it is made from a double fermentation process. This liquid is very
important in the kitchen because much food recipe use vinegar to preserve the
food shelf life. It is also used as a sauce to add more flavors. Moreover,
vinegar was widely used many years ago, and it is used as food preservatives,
disinfectant agent, can be used as fabric conditioner to our clothes because of
its antimicrobial properties. This also help to reduce cholesterol, it helps to
control blood sugar level, and it helps to reduce weight loss because of its
acetic acid content. There are many kinds of vinegar you can buy in the market,
but the most popular vinegar that gives more health benefit is the Apple cider.
Some study shows Apple cider contains high helpful substances like amino acid
anti-oxidants that helps. It may also boost skin health.
These condiments are very helpful in our daily life in food preparation
and in home remedies. However, too much consuming of these may also risk our
health.
