Colors will collapse in the AC market
Researchers at Purdue University in Indiana, USA, have
created the world's whitest color. Applying this color to the exterior wall of
the building will keep the temperature inside the building as cool as the AC.
Commercial use of this environmentally friendly paint could lead to a major
collapse in the AC market.
Sunny Skies. According to a short report, the color was created after 7 years of research by Shiulin Ruan, a professor of mechanical engineering at Purdue University, and his students. Which is capable of reflecting 98.1% of solar radiation. As the world's whitest color, it has already entered the Guinness Book of World Records.
It is known that the colors available in the market as heat
radiators reflect only 80 to 90 percent of sunlight. Which is not enough to
keep the room cool compared to the surrounding environment. However, this white
color is able to keep the room cool as it reflects 98.1% heat and absorbs a
little heat.
Meanwhile, at an ambient temperature of 43 degrees
Fahrenheit, researchers have applied this color to a surface, which reduces the
surface temperature by 18 degrees Fahrenheit. According to researcher Ruan, it
is more effective in keeping the room cool than most air conditioners used in
the home.
Professor Shiulin Ruan, who led the project, said the
initiative was taken with energy savings and climate change in mind. This color
coating can cool the indoor temperature compared to the surroundings without
consuming the energy of the surface.
Researchers have already applied for a patent for the color.
Researchers hope that working with a company to bring the color to market will
increase its commercial use.
